Science Exploration in BY Home Base

Beginning Years has been exploring science, starting with surface tension of a liquid.  So far, our exploration has been around experimenting and playing with materials, and noticing what happens when the materials interact with each other.  Exploration #1 Materials used: coins, water + pipettes.  "Mine held ten drops! On the 11th drop the liquid fell off, it pushed into the middle of the coin and it fell off!" "The biggest one gets a lot but the little ones hold barely any." "Why is it staying on the coin?" "It's because of the wall of the coin, then the water pushes it." "My record is 84 drops. I  discovered something. When you get into the 50's with drops then the bubble pops BIGGER!" How many drops can you fit on a coin? Why might the 'bubble' of water pop? Exploration #2 Materials used:  shallow dish, milk, food coloring/liquid watercolor, toothpicks, dish soap.
