Intermediate Years Studies of Slime

Intermediate Years Home Base is planned through the interests of the students.  Here is a story of how a group of third grade students propelled us on a 3 week study of slime. On Monday, January 22nd, third grade students were found setting up a slime ordering system during Home Base. The students created detailed order forms and receipts for their slime enthused classmates. I then asked the girls if we should make slime during Home Base. They excitedly said yes, and gave me some ideas for ingredients. One thing that was a must was for there to be "add ins". The following Monday, January 29th, we had a slime factory set up in IY Home Base. Cameron K. lead multiple groups of 10 classmates through making individual batches of slime with Tide, glue and water. The students mixed liquid water color to get their desired color. Finally, the students mixed in beads to add texture. Quinn D.B. suggested that instead of making slime with glue and detergent we make Oob
