March All Day Offerings

At the beginning of March, Extension offered two days of all day Home Base, complete with themes.  March 2 We took on the theme of service. We thought about ways to spread love and cheer to the greater Portland community. Inspired by the onesies we created for one of our assistants in February, we used fabric paint and sharpie to create images of love and cheer on onesies and tote bags, which we will be donating to a local women's shelter. We also used sharpie and watercolor to paint rocks to either give away, leave somewhere on campus, or take home to a loved one.  To help add movement to our day, and spread love in a different way we took birdseed to wetland habitats. We spend so much time with wetlands in our curriculum at OES and living in Oregon, it was wonderful to bring some love to our fine feathered friends! We visited our own wetlands on campus, and also visited a park bordering the Columbia River in Portland.    M

Extension students also LOVE to paint! Various painting materials are available almost every day. Recently, we used fabric paint to carefully plan and paint onesies for one of our BY assistants, and after school painting teacher, Claire. She will be having a baby girl in April. We have been doing a lot of building! Different worlds, patterns, stories and inventions have emerged from building collaboratively, parallel to another friend or independently. We made our home base sn
